Q&A With Our Creators: Steve Wittkamp AKA MrAlarm

Throughout our Spring Fever Party we are taking a closer look into the inner workings of our creators. That means… Question and Answer posts!! Get to know these amazing individuals (and groups) a little better. See who you would want having your back during the zombie apocalypse. Today's Q&A comes to us from Steve Wittkamp, AKA MrAlarm!

1. Who are you? What do you do for Geek to Geek?

My name is Steve Wittkamp, AKA Mr Alarm. I write about video games, kaiju, and cheesy movies in my “Schlockoholics Anonymous” articles. (note from Elinzia… MrAlarm also is a fantastic contributor to our Geek to Geek Magazine!)

2. How did you start writing/podcasting/streaming?

I’ve contributed to several friends’ podcasts and blogs in the past. They’ve mostly been movie and video game-themed, so Geek to Geek felt like a natural fit for me.

3. How did you become affiliated with Geek to Geek?

I interacted with Austin and B.J. quite a bit through their Dragon Quest FM podcast, which made me aware of Geek to Geek in general. Austin recommended that I contribute movie articles when he noticed my… let’s say “questionable” taste in film, and the rest is history!

4. Why would you consider yourself a geek?

Where do I even begin? I’ve always preferred to stay indoors in front of the TV over enjoying a beautiful day outdoors. I was a band nerd and in chess club, and that was probably me at my coolest.

5. Who is your favorite superhero?

Wolverine, because he’s short and grumpy like me.

6. What skills do you have to survive the zombie apocalypse?

I’m sleepy pretty much all the time, so the zombies would confuse me for one of their own kind.

7. What is your favorite type of geekery? (movies, tabletop games, video games, books)

It’s a tie between movies and video games.

8. How did you get into that?

My family didn’t have a lot of money when I was a kid, so I vicariously enjoyed video games through friends whenever possible.

9. How many square feet of pizza can you eat?

ALL OF THEM!

10.What is your favorite form of exercise? How will that help with the zombies in question 6?

I am an avid runner, which despite my aforementioned lethargy, should help me to keep ahead of The Horde.

11.Favorite song?

We’re in This Together by Nine Inch Nails

12.Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars, though the pendulum is starting to swing to the other side.

13.Favorite board/card game?

Trivial Pursuit

14.Super Mario Bros or Zelda?

I’ll give Zelda the slightest edge because I love the setting.

15.Which 3 Geek to Geek members would you want on your team in the zombie apocalypse? Why?

B.J., Austin, and Data_Error

Why? B.J. because he’s created enough D&D games to know how best to handle a crazy scenario, Austin because his sense of humor would help us to not go insane, and Data_Error because he probably has an encyclopedic knowledge of the zombies and their weaknesses.

16.What is the most embarrassing fashion fad you have ever rocked?

I had “frosted tipped” hair in my late teens.

17.If aliens asked you to go with them… would you?

Sure, couldn’t be worse than living in AZ lately!

18.If you could be any character in a video or tabletop game… who would you want to be?

Kirby, since he’s always happy – even after gorging himself.

19.Favorite Disney movie?

The Lion King

20.What fruit or vegetable would you prefer for throwing at zombies?

A cucumber. Maybe they’d get freaked out by it like cats do.

21.What was the last TV show you binge-watched?

Berserk (RIP Kantaro Miura)

22.If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?

Nothing illegal, I assure you!

23.What is your favorite snack food?

Pita chips with hummus

24.Name one cool feature you would add to your dream house if you could

I would have a full-sized, ‘80s-style video game arcade.

25.What is the most random, rare form of geekery you love?

I am *obsessed* with the Culdcept video game series. It’s like a combination of Monopoly and Magic: The Gathering, and more people need to play it.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Umbasa.

Where can people find you?

Steve Wittkamp is on Twitter as MrAlarm and all of his writings can be found HERE
