“Just a Simple Blacksmith” – Our Monthly Patreon Freebie

by BJ Keeton | Mar 15, 2021 | The Geekery, Video Games

Hey there, friendos! Every month, we publish a magazine full of exclusive content on our Geek to Geek Media Patreon, and one of those articles is free to the public. This month's theme is all about crafting, and Todd Sullivan has written a fantastic piece called "Just a Simple Blacksmith" that is just phenomenal.

Admittedly, I may a bit partial to this one personally because he talks about one of my favorite games in the world: Ultima Online. I spent years of my life running around Sosaria, and Todd's take on being a blacksmith and crafter in a harsh world brought back so many memories...

...of killing blacksmiths and miners and stealing their ore. Because I was kind of a jerk. But that's neither here nor there.

Todd's article about crafting and being a crafter (and only a crafter) in video games is really fun and helps get into the mind of someone who wants to be a part of slaying the dragon...but without the nasty, possible side-effect of ending up in that dragon's belly.

So whether you're a patron or not, you can read Todd's fantastic article called "Just a Simple Blacksmith" for free. And while you're there, think about subscribing to the monthly magazine. You get tons of cool, extra content that we're always growing and expanding.

What is it about crafting in games or the offline world that you love so much?
